WorkingRite is a Scottish-registered charity working to help young people find jobs, apprenticeships or purposeful learning opportunities. Established in 2003, and registered in Scotland in 2011, it works with young people between the ages of 16 and 19 by individually matching them with local employers in
work placements for up to six months, as well as receiving one-to-one mentoring. WorkingRite has projects across Scotland. Young people gain valuable work experience, are supported by positive role models, and build their confidence. WorkingRite’s founder was awarded a Nesta “new radicals” award in 2012.
In 2016-17 the Asfari Foundation is supporting WorkingRite’s work with 30 young people in Stirling and Glasgow. With the help of a dedicated Project Coordinator, these young people receive skills, confidence and work-based training. 80% of those who complete the programme will progress into full-time jobs, apprenticeships or purposeful learning. They will also receive an accredited qualification. WorkingRite works with local businesses to identify suitable work experience placements, helping young participants identify and develop their interests and increasing their employment prospects in the future.
