Education for Employment

Education for Employment (EFE) is an affiliated network of locally-run non-profit organisations in the Middle East and North Africa, working to create economic opportunities for unemployed youth by providing professional and technical training that leads directly to jobs and entrepreneurship support. The EEfEFE Network is comprised of locally-run affiliates in Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Palestine, Tunisia and Yemen, with a presence in the Gulf and support organisations in the USA, Europe and the United Arab Emirates.

EFE seeks to provide young people with the opportunities they need to develop the skills that employers seek. In 2016-17, the Asfari Foundation is supporting EFE to help disadvantaged youth in the West Bank find employment as construction project managers and accounting specialists, roles in particularly high demand in Palestine. With Asfari support, 28 young people will receive 50 hours of workplace soft-skills training and 120 hours of technical training in construction management and 22 young people will receive 50 hours of workplace soft-skills training and 30 hours of technical training in accounting tools and software. Longer term, the project aims to bridge the gap between the Palestinian education system and the needs of local employers.
