Ad Dar Centre

Ad Dar is a community centre in Istanbul for Syrian and Palestinian-Syrian refugees in Turkey. Set up in 2014 and registered in 2015, it is well known among the Syrian community in Istanbul, including for its work supporting refugee communities. A centre of learning in the heart of addar photoworkshopIstanbul, it organises activities and classes, as well as various forms of practical, social and emotional assistance for children, families and young people. Its work has been widely covered by local Turkish press, including profiles in Time Out Istanbul, Turkish Life and The Guide Istanbul.

In 2017, the Asfari Foundation is supporting Ad Dar’s project helping young Syrian refugees (aged 12-35 years old) to rebuild their lives through education and skills. This includes support for 20-35 Syrian students to complete certified English courses and exams, 10-15 Syrian young people to complete Baccalaureate exams, and 100-150 Syrians to complete Turkish and English language courses to help their career opportunities. Three Syrian women will also be hired to oversee the Centre, classes and its students.
